With an extra special thanks to the team over at https://PaperMC.io, we’ve now updated to Minecraft 1.21.4! Additionally, while my financial position is that of a Poor College Student ™, my family generously provided some hardware to upgrade the Washington server. This has allowed me to take on some additional projects, as we now have the memory and disk space for them.

Hardware Upgrades

  • Upgraded from 16GB of RAM to 32GB of RAM
  • Upgraded from 239GB SSD to 930GB SSD

Supercraft Server Updates

  • Updated to PaperMC 1.21.4
  • Updated Pl3xMap
  • Updated Dynmap

Other New Things

With more RAM available (we used to sit at 80-95% used), I decided to get around to setting up a Git server. I’d initially been looking at GitLab, since a friend of mine self-hosts that, but on looking at more options I decided on Gitea, initially configuring version 1.22.6, then updating later to 1.23.1 and adding an action runner in a standalone docker container. This has proven incredibly useful, and I’m sure is a service I’ll use regularly for years to come.

Looking to the future, while I am going to be a Poor College Student™ for the next few years, my University has plans to surplus a number of computers in the coming months or years, so I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to implement some more hardware upgrades in the not-too-distant future (Our current Washington server sells new for about $900. I paid less than $40 for it from a surplus sale, albeit with it being several years old, but what is a homelab/homeprod if not cobbled together used machines?).
